I thought I’d take some time to discuss the course that is helping and guiding me through creating this online business. The course is called Partnership to Success by John Thornhill.
As I was looking into different avenues of internet marketing, John kept coming onto my radar. I liked what he had to say. I searched for him online and found overwhelmingly positive reviews. What struck me is he always emphasizes the work that has to go into an online business. He wasn’t offering a “Done for You” product. He shows you how it’s done and provides the resources for you to use…or not use.
I’ll admit, I invested in this course a while ago. Like many courses. I was excited and then life got in the way. It went to the back burner.
Lately, I’ve been looking at resources that I’ve invested in but not used. Partnership to Success was at the top of the list. I decided to start again from the beginning. After a blip with my course access, which was immediately solved by the help desk, off I went.
Day 1 – Laying the Foundations
One thing I like about the course is that it makes no assumptions. There’s no assumption that I understand how to start a blog or even what WordPress is. John starts by guiding you in finding your own domain name, how to purchase hosting, and how to easily install WordPress. Other programs gloss over this, but Partnership to Success covers it in easy, digestible steps.
Another thing that I respect is that John throws in some mindset. He discusses a book called The Go-Giver, which I already had read and enjoyed. It also shows what kind of person John is and we need to enter this program primarily to serve others.
If I had one complaint about Day 1…it’s just too long. It took me 2 or 3 days to get it all set up. But I guess he just wanted us to hit the ground running.
Day 2 – Improving Blog Appearance
There’s a lot to do on Day 2. Most important is installing the premium theme Optimize Press. This is an added, but necessary, expense. The theme is a little bit pricy, but once you see everything it does, it’s well worth it. If you’re familiar with WordPress and have another favorite theme, I’d recommend you still purchase Optimize Press. It will make the course much easier since it’s used in all the demonstrations.
I’ve taken courses before where I thought I knew better than the instructor and used my own resources. Guess how many times it worked out? ZERO!
Day 2 will also have you writing your About Me page. It’s a daunting task. No one likes to write about themselves.
I’m a bit further in the program so I can reflect on these two necessary days. It really is stunning how John’s systematic approach makes us make incredible progress almost without realizing that it’s happening.
I’ll recap more in the coming days.
Dedicated to your success,
Andrew Schneider
